Fresh Arts is a collaboration of 25 of the most original and thought-provoking arts organizations in Houston - the distinctive organizations that make Houston arts scene one of the most dynamic in the country. From dance to theatre, music to film, visual arts to opera, Fresh Arts is your best link to Houston’s most progressive arts organizations.

Fresh Arts was founded in a post-9/11 climate when many arts organizations found it difficult to thrive. This environment, along with the uncertainty and small budgets of emerging arts non-profits in general, created the need to band together to share costs and knowledge, thereby making each individual organization stronger because of the group. The need is just as critical today. In its seven years of operation, Fresh Arts has tripled its operating budget, expanded its programming and can now support 25 emergent arts organizations. As every business, for-profit or non-profit, faces an uncertain future in the shaky economic climate, an organization such as Fresh Arts, which employs economies of scale to promote its members, is more essential that ever. In the worst economy since the depression, our local arts organizations are in dire need of collaborative efforts to ensure not only the continued focus on expanding their audiences, but also to ensure their continued sustainability in our community.
