Houston Museum Of Natural Science - Terra Cotta Warriors

Terra Cotta Warriors

The Houston Museum of Natural Science has some fantastic exhibits going on this summer that are worth checking out. Here are a few of the special exhibits.

Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China’s First Emperor
One of the most extraordinary archaeological finds of the 20th century, considered by many to be the Eighth Wonder of the World: terra cotta warriors from the tomb complex of China’s First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang. Intended to protect him throughout eternity, the warriors stood guard over a vast necropolis commissioned by the Emperor when he was only 13 years old. Marvel at more than 100 amazing objects, the largest display of terra cotta figures and tomb artifacts to travel to the U.S. The exhibit runs through October 18, 2009. Click here for more information and tickets.

Genghis Khan
Born with nothing, he rose to become the most powerful man of his time, conquering nations to build the largest empire the world had ever seen. Discover the spectacular innovation, the technological mastery, the engineering marvels, and the cultural sophistication of the world’s greatest conqueror – Genghis Khan – in this spectacular and uniquely interactive exhibition. Runs through September 7 2009. Click here for more information and tickets.

If exhibits are not your thing you should check out the Mixers & Elixirs happening every Friday night in August at the Burke Baker Planetarium. Live music, beautiful people and cocktails for only $6.00 bucks.

Lots more going on. For a full schedule of what is happening at the Houston Museum of Natural Science check the website.

  1. Hi there, thanks for posting about the exhibitions at HMNS!

Just wanted to clarify something - tickets for Mixers are $15. if you want to see a Planetarium show while you are here, that’s available for $6 - still a pretty good deal for Friday night out!

    Thanks again!
