It’s been called everything from “a circus on acid” to “French burlesque meets Sweeney Todd.” Cirque Berzerk’s unique flavor of adult psychedelic vaudevillian tomfoolery returns to the Los Angeles State Historic Park. Born at Burning Man in 2005 and named one of “L.A.’s 10 Weirdest Events of 2008” by the Los Angeles Times, Cirque Berzerk has tickled the collective innards of L.A. and beyond with a psychotically-tinged sultry show filled with sinewy, breathtaking acrobatics, sensual aerialists, gothic stilt walkers, fetishy burlesque dancers, voluptuous contortionists and a host of punk rock clowns, none of whom know how to make cute balloon animals for the kiddies. “Wholesome family fun” it ain’t.
Cirque Berzerk has extended its run through July 26th due to popular demand and great reviews. The show takes place under a huge tent in the LA State Historic Park. Formerly known as “The Cornfield,” aka the last vast open space in the heart of downtown, The Los Angeles State Historic Park spans 32 acres, sits adjacent to Chinatown and is easily accessible by bus rail (we’re a very short walk from the Chinatown station on the Gold Line), car or bicycle.
Plan on coming early to the show to enjoy the Pre-Party outside the tent. You are welcome to bring a picnic basket and dine on the lawn outside the tent, however if you don’t want the hassle you can purchase food at the kitchen and full bar located on site.
And when the show is over you are encouraged to stick around for the Post-Party. After the show, the Cirque Berzerk experience continues well into the night as the audience is invited to party in the Berzerk Lounge with the entire troupe while Vaud and the Villains perform live music.
Attire for the show is completely up to you, however as the event takes place in a field, getting dirty is quite probable.
Tickets are $25 - $85 dollars. If you are looking to save a little dough, you can get 40% off tickets at StubDog.com for select dates.
