Movies On Top of A Parking Garage

Angel City Drive-In

Angel City Drive-In has to be one of the coolest concepts around town. Situated on the roof of a parking garage in Downtown Los Angeles, movie goers are treated to drive-in feature films projected on on a huge 24 x 18 foot screen. If you drive, sound is put right into your car by an FM transmitter and films range anywhere from classics such as Rear Window to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off to Tombstone to Harold & Maude (and everything in between).

But wait, that’s not all. The ground you sit on isn’t grass. It isn’t even dirt. It’s astroturf! So if you do not want to drive, bring a blanket, park your bike and find a nice patch of astroturf to call your very own. And if astroturf isn’t enough motivation to have you scrambling for your movie tickets, then maybe being served by Angel City Derby Girls will. Yes, reasonably-priced food, popcorn and other treats are delivered to your exact location by rolling damsels in lacy underroos. We think they were underroos. The only movement required is reaching for your wallet. And please note, not paying a Derby Girl can be hazardous to your health. We recommend you do. Promptly.

All in all, their is a very communal vibe to the whole experience and the staff are great. And not only this but you are in a very interesting area of Downtown LA (4th Street). Wandering before or after the move is highly recommended. It has to be said that this is a much richer experience than your typical trip to the movie theater.
